Before we created the Legacy Forum, we had individual boards for all the last-gen consoles: PS2, Xbox and GameCube. If we took all the sticky threads from those forums and made them all sticky threads here, it would take up way too much space. So what we'll do is use this thread as a directory for all those old sticky topics. So here we go!

Shadow hearts: Covenant
The best title in the popular "Shadow hearts" series. It is popular mainly for its' unique judgement ring, which makes the battles more exciting and intense, as well as its' dark storyline.
Dark cloud 2
This game improves over every aspect imaginable from its' predecessor. If you enjoy good RPG's, Zelda or the original Dark Cloud, definetely pick this one up.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the cursed king
Published by the makers of Final Fantasy, and created by the makers of Dark Cloud 2, this game takes you on an amazing journey which spans over 100 hours of gameplay, simple-yet-engaging RPG combat, all accompanied by great visuals and sound. A must-play.
Xenosaga I
An rpg that takes you through space, complete with robots and turn-based gameplay. The story and cinematics is on par with blockbuster hollywood movies. (Check out Xenosaga II+III if you enjoy this one)
Ys: the ark of Napishtim
Pronounced "eese", Ys is a game with a traditional traditional top-view camera, but offers fun hack-and-slash gameplay, RPG levelling elements, and many hours of sidequests and an engaging single-player story.
Kingdom Hearts
Critically acclaimed for successfully bringing Square and Disney into one game, Kingdom Hearts is a must-have for any RPG fan. A compelling story, crisp graphics and great action RPG gameplay.

Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy X is definetely one of the older PS2 RPG's. But it stands the test of time by still offering great sound, amazing cinematics, and involving RPG gameplay (including a unique levelling system). A definete must-have for PS2 owners.
Suikoden III
A rare and hard to find RPG, but well worth it if you have the cash. Over 80 hours of gameplay, multiple playable characters, and branching storylines.
Digital Devil Saga
By combining Atlus and Shin Megami Tensie, what game could go wrong? Digital devil saga is a traditional RPG with an overall occultic them. (Pick up the second, if you enjoy this one).
Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories
The first Disgaea game was considered one of the greatest strategy RPG's of all time. But that came at a price, for it sold for well over $80 via ebay. Now you can enjoy the sequel, Disgaea 2: Cursed memories. Featured are over 80 characters, the same great SRPG gameplay, and over 100 hours of gameplay.
Star Ocean 3: Till the End of Time
Star Ocean 3 is an Action RPG, which is easy enough to reccomend to beginners, yet has enough depth for the hardcore RPG fans. Features a great story, okay graphics and fun action gameplay.
Grandia II
Grandia II is a port from the Dreamcast's sequel to one of the greatest RPG's from last generation. Grandia II is a by-the-books RPG, with enough original content to warrant at least one play through. (Also check out Grandia III if this game suits your interests)
Wild Arms 4
Wild arms 4 is another JRPG, but stands out thanks to its' original Hex-based gameplay. Also features an original cast of characters and story, and is the sequel to Wild arms 3 (Check out the rest of the series if interested).
Steambot Chronicles
More of a cult hit than a critically-aclaimed masterpiece, Steambot chronicles features an open-ended RPG with robot battling, character customization and so much more.
Champions of Norrath: Realms of everquest
Champions of norrath is a PC-style hack and slash RPG for the PS2. It features 4-player online co-op gameplay, as well as a deep single player experience with many dungeons to explore and items to collect.
Dual Hearts
Dual hearts is an action RPG, in where you travel to many different, unique places to explore dungeons and the like. Critically acclaimed for its' uniqueness.
Summoner 2
Summoner is an action RPG in which you travel around a large world on an epic quest. Along the way you gain many different abilities to transform into different creatures.
Monster Rancher 4
Monster Rancher is an RPG in which you raise and collect different breeds of monsters. The game can be compared to the Pokemon series and Harvest Moon series.
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne
A definete cult classic, by the famous Shin Megami Tensie. Also very hard to find, so be prepared to shell out over $100 on ebay for this game.
Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana
With its simple, turn-based battles, storybook universe, and saccharine characters, Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana feels like a throwback to the glory days of the SNES role-playing games. (Check out the second game if this one interests you)
Romancing SaGa
A good RPG, best fit for those hardcore RPG players, or fans of the SaGa series.
Suikoden V
If you loved Suikoden III but loathed IV, this game should bring you back to the suikoden series. Suikoden V contains a great cast, narrative, and gameplay, reccomendable to any RPG fan.

Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter proves that role-playing games don't all have to be alike.
Valkryie Profile 2: Silmeria
Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria is a prequel to the popular Playstation role-playing game, Valkyrie Profile. Release date is September 12, 2006.
